Dawson Creek Mile 0 of the Alaskan Highway

We have arrived at the beginning!! The
beginning of the Alaska Highway so we're nowhere near Alaska.  We are back in BC.

Of course it was raining all night & today but
it is more of a drizzle.

First stop of the day, the NAR- Northern
Alaska Railroad Station with displays of
the stationmasters.

I am standing by the Mile 0 Cairn.

The murals around town commemorate
the history of Dawson Creek. They had a big
explosion & fire that wiped out 6 blocks of
the town downtown in the 40's

Next was the Alaska Highway house.
We learned to really appreciate the Alaska
Highway, as there was a lot of death,
sacrifice, & suffering in building that
Highway in 1943.

Day 2 Dawson Creek started at Stuie's Diner
where all the local guys meet.

(Sorry, you need to turn your camera for these as my phone isn't cooperating.)
I am finishing this because the battery is
low & I need to turn the rest of the pics.
More on Dawson Creek & the animals we've seen next time.
