Lake Louise to Jasper-

We shuttled over to Lake Louise as parking was
atrocious. It rained all night & into the early morning
but stopped when we started out.  These are pics
of Lake Louise. Notice the Turquoise water.

We went into this hotel, Chateau Fairmont I
think. We got hot chocolate & I finally got some wifi so I could do the blog.

The next part of our trip was up the Icefields Parkway, highway 93.  We were quite worried as they got hit with snow yesterday.
Even though there was a little rain, it turned
out to be pretty nice.

This was Crowfoot Glacier. One of the feet has totally melted. The other is melting.

All along the Icefield Highway there are many stops.
The Icefield Parkway Center has a nice display on
the glaciers and the area.  Notice the winter wonderland.
Enough already!! This is mid-June for Pete's sake!

The 1844 sign indicates where the
Glacier was at that time. The highway & parking lots are between now. The two
glaciers are Athebasca & Andromeda.

Our final & favorite stop was Sunwapta Falls. It is only a short way down a hill,
& our bodies were aching.

We had our first bear sighting.  He was only about 8 feet from the car. They eat a ton of
Dandelions. We didn't even have to wait till
Alaska to see a bear.  We camped in Jasper
National Park. It will probably be a couple
of days before I have enough to blog about

  2. Did the dandelion eating bear nibble the stalks and then just let the flower heads drop? We've watched and have video of a couple bears along the road doing just that.
I've oftened wondered if it was a preference to the bears we happened to see or if they all do that.
