So the thing that is broken down is me. We weren' t bothered by mosquitos or black flies too much on our way up & into Alaska.
The weather was cool & drizzly . I wore a sweatshirt most of the time. Coming back has been pretty bad & if we forget our
mosquito fans or repellant & long sleeves, we get eaten & they sneak in the trailer waiting for night to strike.
Last year on our way home from Idaho I got bit. The bites swell up & I scratch. I put hydrocortisone on them & a rash developed.
Then I switched to calamine lotion & the rash went everywhere. Bites are older but then the rash itches continually.
They gave me steroid cream & it stopped last year , but I would have to see a Dr. in Canada to get that. Here I am in nowhere Canada & it took 2 days & five stores to get Benydryl pills & topical. I hope it works!! It's a nightmare to itch almost all the time
I have come down with a cold. That's always fun on vacation. My charging cord for my phone was burning. Thank goodness it did not hurt the phone!!
Yesterday I opened the cupboard. & the plastic container the Cheerios were in fell to the floor & I had Cheerios in & out of the cupboard everywhere. We went to A & W & I asked for a coke with lots of ice. They chill the root beer & don't have ice.
Our car's air conditioning started blowing warm air. It's been in the high 80's the last
several days & there is humidity. I don't
dare ask what will happen next.
Ok I have complained enough . We will be out of Canada in two days. We will then go to North Cascades National Park, Mt. Saint Helens, Crater Lake & the Oregon Coast.
I don't know if you will be interested in the trip to continue reading the blog but I will
keep posting as it makes a good journal for me. We really loved Alaska & Canada.Check the blog for posts you may have missed. Go down to the bottom of the page, hit older posts & keep doing that till you see all 30
I was so excited about all the bears in my last post I forgot to show the red fox.
This was Seeley Lake Provincial Park where we camped. The lake was right below us (green colored) between the trees.
They have a nice museum & you can get a guided tour where they explain a lot. We have reached our limit on learning about all the first Nations people.
A converted steamboat in Old Hazelton
A couple of pics of Old Hazelton
We spent the night at Fraser Lake. This picture was taken from our campsite.
I am a little unsure as to why some of my pics are getting a little blurry. It might be the bright sun.
So there you have it. It's been an amazing journey. We feel adventurous for doing this.
It went too fast. Steve & I don't want to go home & back to all the responsibility. I love to travel & if we had the money we could go all over.
I think the trip is about 7,000 miles when we are done. The Cassier Highway is a much better road than the Alaskan Highway. It is
a lot shorter also at 550 miles.
You have to experience the Alaskan Highway along with all the places & stories
The Al Can is 1400 miles & they are trying to
do construction in a limited amount of time.
Steve & I got along great even in the little trailer. I would suggest this trip to anyone who doesn't mind some inconvenience (and no ice!) Prices are sky high, even at Wal-Mart. Food, restaurants & gas are really high in Canada. Gas in Alaska is a little less to about what we pay at home. Food & restaurants are also higher in Alaska.
So goodbye to those leaving us & those who
are coming along on the last 2 weeks of the trip. Love Linda
