Our day began continuing down the Cassier Highway to Stewart BC & Hyder Ak. Yes we are momentarily back in Alaska. This is somewhere south of Juneau .
We saw 4 bears on the way. We have pics of 2 as we couldn't stop for the other 2.
We were going to the Fish Creek National Wildlife Viewing Area. The Salmon are spawning & the bears are catching the Fish.
That's how it's supposed to work. There wasn't any action going on so we went to
get dinner. We came back & waited & still nothing.
On our way back to the campground we saw 2 baby cubs out in the road. As Steve started rolling another baby runs right in front of him. So they all skedaddled to the bushes &
We didn't get a picture but they were so cute!!
We got up early today & went back in the am. There was a small black 🐻 eating berries right around the platform.
Once the excitement waned we headed off to see Salmon Glacier. Wow, the road was 24 miles of frost heaves & potholes & gravel & dirt. I think it was worth it.
We chose this beautiful spot for a picnic. This is Clement Lake. We are getting spoiled to eat in so much beauty!!
This evening we drove back to the observation platform. There was a black bear up on the hill in the bushes. You could
"barely" see him & it was too hard to photograph. It counts as a bear sighting. We found out at 4 pm today a grizzly was there for an hour & grabbed two fish!!
We waited 1 1/2 hrs. & visited with people.
We packed it in & a mile down the road a big
black bear crosses the road!! I didn't have my phone & got Steve's camera. I planned to shoot out my window but he already disappeared.
That made 3 bears today, & 7 yesterday. It has been amazing!!! It's getting late so I will end this post.
