Out of Alaska & into the Canadian Wilds

Sad to say we left Alaska today. Not that BC Canada & the Yukon aren't just as beautiful!!
Rushing rivers, tranquil lakes, majestic mountains & forest everywhere.

We did see a moose but couldn't stop for a pic. It's been drizzling most of the day.  We
stopped for lunch in Tok & were heading to
Deadman Lake to camp.

There were weather alerts for flooding so we stopped in Northway Junction up on a hill to camp.  We found out we were all alone at this little native village gas stop.
It was spooky!

We stayed in a beautiful campground in Kluane Lake.  This is a picture from our campsite.

We Visited the CAFN DA KU Cultural Center.
This area is the Tlinget Native Culture.  Here are the types of homes they originally lived in before they built cabins.

Here are some quilt squares & the quilt for you ladies who have enjoyed the quilt pics.

A couple of cute churches in Haines Junction

The next day we went to the George Johnson
Museum in Teslin.  Funny story about the car--He had to have the car shipped because there was no road.  That didn't stop him driving, he just did it on the 84 miles of the frozen lake!!

They didn't have gas but he used Naptha which is derived from coal.  He also painted the car white so he could blend in with the ice & watch his animal traps on the shore.

He would heat his coal oil & pour it back in the car to drive.

We camped in Boya Lake Provincial Park.

I know this post has been boring, but I promise the next post will have animals & glaciers because we're going to Hyder for bear viewing!!!
