Walk on the wild side & a walk to a glacier

Our second day at Turnagain Arm started at the Alaska Wildlife Center.  These animals were rescued, mostly as orphan babies or hurt animals.  They will never go back to the wild.

We walked around on our own then took a very informative shuttle.

Bear above we think he was maybe scratching

 Fox on the red rock
Coyote sleeping on the rock

We went to moose flats for a picnic.

After lunch we headed for Begich Boggs Visitor Center.

 Smoky & I became friends

This is the closest Steve is going to come to kayaking in Alaska!!

We headed for the Byron Glacier Trail which was the easier trail to hike to a glacier.
It was 1 1/2 miles round trip.

This was a picture straight from my phone.  I did not filter or change color. Glacier ice can be very blue if the sun shines on it.

We went to watch the bore tide but we never saw the wave.  If you notice on the pocture below,  there are huge sand bars where the water withdraws in the morning.

It comes back in the evening & covers all the mud flats. I guess sometimes it comes in as a
big wave

I think I'll end this blog for now. It was a big day.
